At the UN green fair, our purpose was to advocate for hemp and its numerous benefits. We were there to raise awareness and educate visitors about hemp.
In September 2015, General Assembly implemented a “2030 agenda for sustainable development” that consists of 17 goals. Each goal is a holistic way to achieve sustainable development. As a part of these goals, Green Fair was organized at the UN.
We make all of our product using hemp fiber; that is extracted from the hemp plant.
More than 50,000 products can be made using hemp. We can use industrial hemp to make textiles, furniture, houses and even airplanes. Cultivation of hemp requires limited natural resources than cotton to grow. Because it is resistant to mildew, bacteria, and mold, it does not need pesticides or insecticides to grow.
Educating people about hemp and its benefits is the only way we will be able to raise awareness about this issue.
To raise awareness about industrial hemp its benefit we showed a quick video to the visitors and conducted a brief quiz after that. Whoever scored the highest got free Stemp merchandise. Doing this we were able to get more attention from people and were able to interact with more of them. And soon they started to show interest towards us and asked more question about hemp. Mostly they asked about why hemp is not legal to grow in many parts of the United States.
There are some states in the USA that have banned industrial hemp farming. This is because hemp is currently classified as a schedule 1 substance along with marijuana. Although hemp and marijuana belong to the cannabis family and look the same, they are different from one another.
You cannot get high of off hemp, because it has low levels of THC than marijuana and there is no reason to ban it. Yet some cotton lobbyists have circulated rumors about hemp being the same as marijuana. This has created a stigma around hemp farming. There fore, educating people about hemp and its benefits is the only way we will be able to raise awareness about this issue.
At Stemp, we use hemp fiber to make all of our products. This way, we can give people an eco-friendly option in clothing.
When we use hemp in our clothes, we are confident that our clothes fabric is produced by using less natural resources.
Additionally, our clothes are handmade by artisans in Nepal and are not mass produced in the sweatshop. We are also committed to having an ethical supply chain.
One thing I understood, participating in this fair was that no matter where we come from, we should always try to bring positive changes in the word.
At this fair, there were other participants promoting messages about sustainability as well. This was such an empowering moment for our company as well. To see so many others on the same page of "sustainable development" was an inspiration for us.
One thing I understood, participating in this fair was that no matter where we come from, we should always try to bring positive changes to the world.
Our company will keep focusing on making eco-friendly fashionable hemp clothing.
All in all, it was a great event and would like to thank the UN for having us. We look forward to doing this next year again. Love Hemp Love Stemp.
